Our Wedding

THE BACKSTORY

Well, we have actually known each other for years… though “known” might be a generous term. For the longest time we were like oil and water. It only took us reaching middle age to realize that what we thought was animosity was actually something more like love. We chose New Orleans because it holds a special place in our hearts. We’ve always been drawn to its rich history, vibrant culture, and the unmistakable energy that fills its streets. It felt like the perfect place to gather the people we love most and share a city that means so much to us. New Orleans as you can probably guess has so much history which we both love. Originally called the place of many tongues by the native Choctaw it then went through French - Spanish - French (again) colonial periods before the Louisiana Purchase. This is the reason you will see multiple placards on street corners in Spanish and why the architecture is so recognizably Spanish as well. Our two locations have great backstories as well...... Napolean House was built in 1797 and served as then Mayor Nicholas Gilrod's home. In 1821 he invited Napolean to come and escape exile and offered him the added suite of rooms on the 2nd floor (where we will be celebrating NYE). Napolean never made it. Latrobe's was named after it's architect, Benjamin Henry Latrobe. He was appointed by Thomas Jefferson to oversee the construction of The U.S. Capitol and also designed the White House porticos. Latrobe's On Royal was chartered as the first Louisiana State Bank in 1818 provided crucial capital for Louisiana's booming agricultural industry in the early years after gaining statehood. We hope you will be able to make the weekend and can't wait to celebrate with all of you in New Orleans on two of the most infamous days of the year... HOTEL OPTIONS

HOTEL OPTIONS There are plenty of hotels in and around the French Quarter, where both events will be held. It really depends on your preferred style, price point, and whether you’d like to be in the middle of the action or somewhere a bit quieter. Most hotels allow you to book now and cancel up to 24 hours before arrival, so if you find something you like, we recommend reserving it early. Many hotels have not yet released their room blocks. We’ll share booking links as they become available.

This is located in the heart of the French Quarter, directly across the street from Napoleon House (NYE) and one block from Latrobe's on Royal (wedding), as well as across from the historic Louisiana Supreme Court. The rooms are currently being renovated but in the final phase and are expected to be completed by October.

Next to the Windsor Court! An accommodation just outside of the French Quarter but walking distance to both venues and the river if you don't want to Uber back and forth

The Kimpton Fontenot is also located downtown and offers a more modern, Southern contemporary option. If you’ve ever stayed at a Kimpton Hotels &amp; Restaurants property, you know what to expect!
